After looking through our Iceland trip itinerary, many things are getting me excited. However, a few stand out the most. I’m especially excited for Iceland’s natural beauty and breathtaking landscapes. I’m also super excited to learn about their sustainability practices and to see how they contribute to a better future for the world.

As someone who has been very interested in nature since I was young, the amazing landscape of Iceland is something that I really look forward to seeing. I especially look forward to seeing the Northern lights, which has been on my bucket list since I can remember. It seems like our schedule is full of hikes and sightseeing, all of which are a big part of the reason I wanted to take part in this trip in the first place. I’m really excited to be able to get to experience a natural landscape that I’ve never seen before and can’t wait to see how it compares to other places I’ve been to in the world.

As for the sustainability practices of Iceland, I’ve always known that they are a super progressive country when it comes to preserving the earth for our future. However, I’m not really familiar with how they’re doing this and the consequences it’ll have in the future. Therefore, I’m really eager to learn more about things like their geothermal energy plants and hydroponic harming practices. I’m hoping that I can take away a few things that will further open my mind on sustainable practices that I could implement into my own life.

As for how this trip will shape the future of my undergraduate studies at Pitt, I’m really hoping this trip will teach me a lot about being a sustainable engineer. In the future, I want to be someone who is actively innovating and trying to make this world a better place. In my opinion, I think it’s super important to be sustainable and think about the future of our Earth rather than just worrying about how things could help us right now. I would love for this trip to teach me about how I could start implementing these practice in my engineering career to create a better world with a more sustainable future.

All in all, I’m super excited for this trip and I can’t wait to see what Iceland has to offer!
