I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be part of this trip and to explore sites and attractions I have not had the chance to experience with family or friends. Relevant to my interests, I am excited about the national park visits. I love hiking and viewing natural landscapes. The scenery photos have only heightened my anticipation of witnessing the landscape firsthand.
The trip will significantly shape my educational journey by offering a new perspective on economics and sustainability. Iceland, with its small size and self-sufficiency, presents an interesting case for studying how people effectively manage and allocate resources within the constraints of limited land. As someone deeply interested in environmental economics, I’m eager to learn about sustainable practices in areas like food and energy systems. I am interested in researching how large, developed nations might adopt similar strategies. Therefore, I’m excited to learn how people in Iceland interact with the natural environment and available resources in ways that may differ from what I’m accustomed to in America.
While Iceland’s use of geothermal energy is geographically unique, I’m particularly intrigued by the country’s food systems. The visit to the Greenhouse Cultivation Center stands out to me, as I’m interested in understanding the sustainability and feasibility of hydroponics and greenhouse cultivation. This trip activity aligns with my interests and broader goal for the trip, which is to deepen my understanding of sustainable practices in both local and global contexts.
I’m excited to gain a fresh perspective on sustainability and immerse myself in a new culture, broadening my awareness of global communities. I believe this trip will complement the knowledge I gain in the classroom and help me become a more informed global citizen. It will provide valuable insights that will shape my career and personal development, allowing me to learn from other cultures and inspire positive change.
