In about two weeks I will be in Iceland, which is crazy to me because it feels like just yesterday I made the decision to apply for the opportunity. Iceland has been on my bucket list for quite some time now, and I am very excited to explore this beautiful country!
I am very interested in learning more about Iceland’s unique culture, particularly its food. I have loved trying new foods and cooking for my entire life. I am very excited to eat and to learn more about the history of Icelandic food and how some very unique dishes originated. Food to me is one of the most important aspects of culture, and being able to eat and enjoy food that has been a part of another person’s life is very special. Food allows me to make more meaningful connections to the place and people around me.
I love nature and Iceland is like no place I have ever been before. I am very excited to have the opportunity to see everything the country has to offer. I cannot wait to see the northern lights for the first time. My grandma used to tell me about seeing the Northern Lights when she was living in Canada and told me I have to see them at least once in my life. I also want to explore and go on hikes to see all of the glaciers and waterfalls.
One of the main reasons this trip interested me so much is because we will be visiting a geothermal power plant and learning more about geothermal energy and Iceland’s unique and impressive energy sector. I am very excited to learn more about the engineering behind the power plant and the other ways Iceland is able to harness nature to produce energy.
I really want to use this opportunity to explore Iceland and learn as much as possible!
