Today I visited the Snæfellness Peninsula which is located in western Iceland. The landscape can be described with three main different attributes. The first one being the mountains, they were tall and steep. All of them were covered in snow but offered such a breathtaking view when I was able to open my eyes. A lot of times the wind was extremely strong, 47 miles per hour, which blew snow and hail into my faces. Luckily I had my glasses for a bit of shielding, and I was able to see. At times the wind felt as though it had the power to pick me up, it was a surreal feeling. Along the coastline, the second feature, gigantic waves roared in the Atlantic Ocean. Seeing the waves form and crash into the coastal cliffs was a reminder of the remarkable beauty of nature. The shoreline was covered with varying sizes of black rocks. The third attribute are the lava fields, which are all covered in snow and moss. The fields were flat and similar to the landscape I have seen thus far. Along the peninsula’s path, a few small waterfalls were sprinkled in. Overall I had a wonderful day exploring the peninsula with my classmates as the wind and views swept us off our feet.
