Throughout the day, we ventured through various bodies of water in Iceland, my favorite being the Ytri tunga, where I spotted some seals and snagged some baby seashells as a souvenir. The sun was out at this destination, glistening along the water. I loved searching along the shore for seashells, and being in snow boots in the sand was definitely a first for me! Overall, this spot had some of my favorite views and memories of the trip thus far.
Unlike your stereotypical spring break destination, Iceland’s waters are not one to pop in for a quick dip or a tanning session. The waves are rough, temperatures freezing, and only made for sightseeing. Today’s weather reminded me of Pittsburgh as it was unpredictable and continued to switch up every 10 minutes. The weather consisted of sunny skies, hail storms, 56 mph winds, sleet & snow, cycling back to sunshine! Today felt like we have seen it all. With the amount of rain recently in Iceland, the tides were extremely high, and the water was rough. It was amazing to see how intense the waters were, it does not compare to any ocean I have seen before.
The bus rides between locations have also been some of my favorite views. The land seems to stretch on forever; the snow-capped mountains with the horses bundling together in the snow look straight out of a painting. Overall, today was unforgettable, especially my sweet little faceplant I took from the wind!
