Today we began our day departing the hotel early in the morning and ventured to the Skogafoss waterfall, where we climbed up what felt like a million steps. Climbing up these steps was a pain one, because I am a tall person and love to take two steps at a time, and the average person prefers one step at a time. When we reached the top of the waterfall we began to venture along the highlands and soon got hit with what seems like the usual blizzard at this point.

Venturing back down we took some pictures and then made our way to a glacier. The glacier was one of those sights that feels like a desktop background, or green screen not being able to fully process it unless you look at the intricate details from afar. We rounded out the day by stopping in Vik and stopping at a black crust pizzeria which was so good!

Conserving places like these and maintaining natural beauty as captured in my photos is a crucial part of tourism. As many people love to view and take pictures it’s also important to remember that as we tred this land, to be respectful, as it has been there a way longer time than us. Providing suitable garbage collection areas to avoid a build up of liter, as well as suitable walking structures that do not disturb the land are ways we can combat tourism hurting the environment around us.

As I took my photos today I wanted to focus a lot on perspective. It can be seen throughout the various photos I took that putting one object front and center really helps emphasize the size or simply just the background of the photo. Being in Iceland, I want to take as many pictures as possible, but also want to ensure that I am taking meaningful photos.
