This morning we woke up and departed for Reykjavík, making sure to stop at the deadly black sand beaches and the Seljalandsfoss waterfall which we could pass behind it. The black sand beach offered a view of some of the biggest waves I have ever seen. They formed an almost curl-like shape that made it easy to observe how someone could be easily swept away.

Later, we stopped at the Seljalandsfoss waterfall where we went behind it, and I expectedly came out drenched from the waterfall. However, I did not expect to have my socks drenched on departing the waterfall.

By the end of the day, we ended it by having authentic Icelandic dishes. Within the sample included, lamb, smoked puffin, smoked char, and horse tartar. At first, I had preconceived notions that the smoked puffin was going to taste like chicken, and expected all of the foods to have different textures to their actual textures. I was pleasantly surprised to taste a sample of each and find a commonality that they all share an obscure cheese-like texture (especially the smoked char). The horse tartar surprised me with a taste similar to steak and proved to be my favorite. Nada kept reminding me of the horse we saw the day before, and I struggled to disassociate the two, but I made through.

Trying these new foods, I discovered how foods can be perceived a certain way, and taste completely different. It was a really eye-opening experience, and I look forward to trying new foods in other countries, and cultures.
