My day was the worst combination of aspects: long and boring. My flights from Pittsburgh to JFK and from JFK to Paris on my way to Prague were delayed by several hours, making me miss my connections. First, I missed my initial flight to Paris from JFK, got a new flight, but then that was delayed due to some safety threats made, which was so scary and also made me miss my flight from Paris to Prague. In total, almost 24 hours of being in an airport. Truly an unlucky day for me making my connections.
Because of this, I did not get back to the hotel until 9pm, when originally I was supposed to be there at 1pm. I missed exploring the streets of Prague and the Charles Bridge, but I hope to check it out in the upcoming days to make up for my losses today!
I had meaningful conversations with lots of customer service agents lol. But for real, on my flight to Paris that was delayed 3.5 hours due to threats, I talked to a professor who was sitting next to me about a conference he is attending in Belgium. He teaches religion and philosophy, but majored in political science. He was asking about Prague and my engineering, and comparing it to his uni life in Canada where he went to school. It was a really cool conversation. Also, I found out that one of my best friends (who is my roommate on this trip) and I have been connected for years and we didn’t even know! Our moms were cheerleaders together in high school, and have been Facebook friends years before either of us met at Pitt. This trip led our moms to realize we knew each other, and reading their conversation figuring it out was absolutely hilarious. What a small world! My picture is that cheerleading squad.
Can’t wait to actually see and explore Prague tomorrow!
