Welcome! Today was our first day, having barely slept on the flight over, the exhaustion began to kick in when we started our first tour of Prague. The first thing I couldn’t help but compare the Czech and Polish language. With the help of Alex, I was able to slowly learn the pronunciation of certain diacritics. I was able to interpret many words that contained similar spellings. Sometimes trying to read something or hearing someone talk, I was able to make out certain parts and then suddenly have no clue what is being said.
The tour led us through the Old Town and New Town, and we eventually ended up at Charles Bridge, which was constructed in 1357, would connect the Old Town to The Lesser Town of Prague. Which doesn’t mean it is a worse part, but it is just a smaller version. The need and construction of bridges is a positive indicator of a growing society where its geographical issues limiting its grow rather than societal or economical. With the addition of a bridge, you connect two pieces of land where now they can work more efficiently as one. It can create a more diverse culture which can be seen in Prague’s many architectural buildings.
