Today was our first day on Czech soil! After a long travel journey our whole group finally arrived in Prague and immediately jumped into a city guided by Janá. No amount of prior research or pictures I have seen could have prepared me for the beauty of Prague. We saw sights from the miraculous Astronomical Clock to the beautiful Charles Bridge. Every sight amazed me, but what particularly stuck out to me was the design of the streets and buildings, specifically the colors.

As I walked and looked down, I was able to see the narrow streets made of cobblestone. I can just imagine how every single brick was laid by hand centuries ago and how this still makes up the majority of roads in the city. On the other hand, as I looked up I saw bright and pastel colors in every direction. Each building facade was a different shade of sage green, light pink, baby blue, or anything you could imagine. Every window was outlined in another contrasting color with a detailed design frame surrounding it. I couldn’t help myself but to comprare it to the grey tones of Pittsburgh, where every building is tan, grey, or if you’re lucky maybe glass. Today was only the beginning, and I am already in awe, so I am eager to see what else is in store for the rest of our trip!
