One thing that I learned during our lectures at the Charles University was how many different languages were spoken historically in the Czech Republic. I thought it was very interesting to hear about where all the different languages were spread throughout central Europe. At the Podoli Waterworks tour I thought that the cleaning process was interesting to learn about. Our tour guide’s comment about how dangerous it would be to fall into the water during cleaning due to the amount of air in the water has stuck with me. It was also cool to see the map of where all the different water went throughout the city. In terms of culture shock, I think paying for water has been an experience I have had to adjust to. I am so used to just mindlessly ordering water. It is weird to think about how they can get an ambulance or give birth at a hospital basically for free but of all things have to pay for water, while in America it would be thousands for a hospital trip, but water is free. Overall, it was a tiring, but good day, and I am very glad I am on this trip.
