I learned a lot from the cooking class about Czech culinary traditions. One of the more interesting things I learned during the cooking class is the Czech tradition surrounding mushrooms. Learning that anyone can go on almost any land and forage for mushrooms, and the dedication many have to doing so, was extremely interesting to me. I think that it is an amazing Czech tradition that brings people together. It also helps that Mushrooms are commonly used in Czech dishes. Another Czech tradition is growing and preserving fruits by making Jams, which are all delicious. I have tried all the jams that are provided at the hotel for breakfast, and they are amazing.
Although the cooking class was amazing, Prague Castle is the best thing I have seen in Prague so far. One thing that stood out to me was the mixture of the secular powers surrounding and appreciating religion, enshrining the ancient church and maintaining the church: Katedrála sv. Víta. I think this shows that the Czechs deeply value the history of their nation, especially considering that the majority of the population identifies with no religion. Another thing I appreciated was the free and unrestricted access to the castle gardens. This shows the Czech Government’s priority to their people and making sure the country’s Heritage and beauty is for its people.
