Today we left bright and early on the bus to Terezin Concentration Camp. I was unsure what to expect for the day today and was a little nervous going into it. Our tour guide for the day made me feel comfortable during this experince. She took us through the story of what happened behind the walls of the Terezin fortress and preseneted such hard information in a way that was easy to digest and understand without going overboard. I learned alot more today than I ever did in highschool about the true happenings of concentration camps, and seeing eveyrthing with your own eyes really puts in in perspective. I learned that the Nazi party lied to the red Cross when they came to visit Terezin about what was really happening to the jewish comminity. I never knew that they spent 13 months building fake buildings and props for propoganda purposes. They even forced all the prisoners to act out skits. I think that truly shows the evil nature of what happened in the 1940s, and I am so shocked that I never knew the depth of the lies untill today. To go through something as awful as that just shows how strong the Czech people are. I felt so still today walkinbg around the prison grounds, as if it was stuck in time. Today was an experince I will not forget, It was truly life changing and forever altered my perspective on World History.
