Today, we went to Kutna Hora and we saw a variety of different sights including the bone church, St. Barbara’s Cathedral, a silver mine, and more! What I was most impressed with was St. Barbara’s Cathedral. Its construction began in 1300s, and took hundreds of years of building and maintaining. This was especially difficult considering they did not have the resources we have today to construct such a building. I also really enjoyed the silver mine tour, but I could not imagine working in one. The miners did not have ample working conditions, as they had limited visibility and were often required to crawl through extremely tight spaces. In addition, many of them died whether that was from drinking the contaminated water or breathing too much carbon dioxide. While miners still have to crawl through tight spaces nowadays, they have much better equipment and resources to be able to aide their working environment. I really enjoyed Kutna Hora today, and I can’t believe this trip is going by so fast!
