Today we went to an art museum/storage facility/network event. This place was really cool. Most of the floors of the building had workers finishing up sets to display various art pieces. The coolest part of the tour was in the basement where they stored art behind a massive steel vault wall in a temperature and environment controlled room to protect the art. There was also a golden cube like structure with a meeting area inside. In the areas that did have stuff on display, my favorite piece was a NYC taxi cab with trees and bushes growing out of it from the inside. I am skeptical as to how much growth there really could be considering it’s stored inside with not much dirt and I don’t know if they water it regularly. The piece was cool though. I also want to know if they syphoned the gas out of the car too, along with all the other fluids like brake, transmission, etc. The lights were still on so I know there’s at least still a battery somewhere in the crown vic. The artists are actually a Czech couple that moved to New York, which was a cool backstory behind a project like this.
After our tour of the museum, we had a Pitt Alumni meeting event. It was a good time and insightful to hear different professionals stories after graduating from our school. My favorite conversation was with this gentleman in his 40s who did not mention once what he did for work and proceeded to strictly talk about what bars/night clubs he would go to in Prague. Afterwards a bunch of us all got updated Linkdn profile photos at the castle.
