Today, we spent our entire day at CEZ! We talked a lot about their sources of energy, and how they plan to switch over to more renewable sources. This is really important, as we should try to switch over to energy sources that do not hurt our planet. It seems like they got a lot of push from government legislation to do this, however, which I feel is lacking in the United States. It seems like they definitely try to balance their energy needs and environmental protections. While they supply a lot of Czech citizens, I felt like they put a large emphasis on making sure that they could have as much renewable energy as possible. I really enjoyed hanging around in the mine. It was so interesting to see the intricate machinery they use to extract coal. I was really shocked how much land was torn out for this particular purpose. It made me realize how intricate coal extraction is when you have such a high demand for energy.
