Another somewhat early day today and another bus travel day. Today we went to the car manufacturer Škoda. We were given a tour of the museum as well as a tour of the manufacturing plant where we got to see how the cars get assembled. It was amazing to see the assembly line of cars being made one by one. Many parts have become automated but there are still many parts that use human workers to get the job done. With the speed that these cars are manufactured it was fascinating to see how the work is organized and how hundreds of people collectively put together hundreds of cars. After a delicious lunch we had the chance to go to Skoda motorsports, a branch of the Skoda brand that works on its rally cars.
Having been in the Czech Republic for just over a week has been amazing. There is so much to explore in the time we have during the program. It also gets very tiring towards the end of the day, where you are walking back to the hotel just wanting to lay down. In return I get to experience another country’s culture, like its food (it’s delicious here!) and visit many historical and prominent locations. Additionally, with this program I get to learn and see how the history of the Czech Republic and innovations in engineering influence the future of the country and its impact on the world.
