Today we visited the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry (IOCHB) which I have been looking foward to all trip! As cool as it is to diversify your engineering backround, its great to get to see companies or research that directly relates to what you are studying. We got to see 3 different labs and learn about 3 different projects that IOCHB is working on. The first lab was about using a new gene/protein as a tumor supressor and how we can activate that gene. Last semester in my cell biology 2 class we learned all about oncology and the engineering of cancer research, and I was ablw to follow along and understand all of the research that was being presented which was so cool! The second lab was about AMDs and their ability to hydrolyze amides. This presentation was basically an overview of organic chemistry so luckility it was still fresh in my mind from school! The last lab I think was my favorite, it was all about photochromic molecular machines! Alot of the technique and content in this lab is similar to the lab I work in at school, and it was so cool being able to ask questions abuout the research and the processes! This visit was super cool and I am glad to say I had this experince! Then later on that night we had our farewell dinner cruise on the river in prague which was beautiful. I can’t believe this trip has basically come to an end 😦
