Our final adventure altogether was a day-trip to Český Krumlov, which is a town in the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. The town is best known for its historic castle complex, which has been well preserved. We embarked on a guided tour through this castle and its various designated rooms. The architecture is of baroque, gothic, and renaissance styles, and is protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The castle dates back to 1253 when it was built by a wealthy Bohemian family. It is nestled above the rest of the town, providing excellent views. We viewed many unique items preserved in this castle, such as paintings, furniture, and tables to play chess or cards on. We also learned about the historical significance of bears. Bears were kept in a moat beside the castle as a means of protection. They’ve been kept in this moat for hundreds of years to keep up with the tradition, although they will be removed in a few years due do concerns with their living environment.

While seeing the castle was the most prominent aspect of our visit, it was nice to walk through the town and check out all of the unique shops. It was a relaxing last day to end this incredible trip. We’ve done and seen so many amazing things, and I am certainly ending on a good note!
