In my two weeks in Prague, I have learned so much about myself, my peers, Czech culture, and engineering. Being an engineer is so much more than what you learn inside the classroom, it is an alive, active practice. Numbers and formulas on a paper only take you so far, engineering is about doing. My time in Prague has been a testament to that, seeing innovation at every corner. They live and go beyond the numbers to create new ideas that transform our world.
My biggest advice to future engineers who go on this trip is to spend as much time as you can with your peers. Hanging out with them after daily classes was my favorite part of my trip, whether it was getting food or just talking in our rooms. The best memories are the ones you’ll share with others. I know it can be challenging, especially with some engineers being introverted, but putting yourself out there will sew seeds with endless benefits.
Overall, I am grateful just to have this experience. I am so privileged to not only afford this study abroad, but also to be surrounded with students who are just as cool as they are intelligent. Every day got better and better during this was a once in a lifetime experience, and I will cherish it forever.
