The most picture-perfect town ever; that is what I thought when we first arrived in Cesky Krumlov. Over the past two weeks in Prague, I have started to feel a lot more comfortable in the Czech Republic as a whole. I have started to feel like a Global Citizen a lot more for sure. The moment today that made me feel most like a global citizen was exploring the different shops and towns of Cesky Krumlov by myself. I wasn’t with a group or a part of any tour; I was navigating an area foreign to me by myself. I was able to efficiently go through the different shops and get all the gifts I wanted, which made me feel like a true global citizen.
Exploring the Czech Republic, I have been able to appreciate and see the differences between the US and the Czech Republic. Both cultures and societies have their pros and cons, and both would benefit from adopting some of each other’s ideas. The versatile and widespread transportation using trams and busses in the Czech Republic is something the US would greatly benefit from adopting, especially in cities. The use of this method of transportation eliminates traffic, is more ecofriendly, and allows for better use of space by eliminating the need for many parking lots. Although the US would benefit from adopting this idea and others from the Czech Republic, both countries have their benefits. I am glad I have had the chance to experience both countries.
