Today we got to visit Cesky Krumlov and got to walk around an area of Prague that I had not seen before. In Cesky Krumlov, there is a massive and beautiful castle that overlooks the entire city. There are many rooms inside that we were guided through and we got to explore the lives of the rich in these times. One of the reasons this place is famous is because of the moat around the castle. In order to defend, they placed actual bears in the moat that would attack anyone who fell in. Currently however, these bears are just for tradition and they take much better care of them. We did learn that they would soon be taken away so this symbolism will soon not exist. Surrounding this castle was a beautiful town where I ordered the best burger I have had in Europe to date.
While traveling in Europe, I first struggled with the language barrier and was awkward interpreting social ques or communicating. However, after spending two weeks here, I have slowly been able to fit in with different phrases and physical gestures. Now, I generally am greeted and spoken to in Czech before I have to unfortunately reveal that I am an American.
