It’s hard to believe we’ve reached the end of Plus3X Prague 2025. I looked forward to it all semester, relished the travels and experiences every day of this program, and now look back on it fondly.

Several observations and experiences stood out to me. I admired and was surprised by the mishmash architectural styles: layers of history that are juxtaposed in the UNESCO World Heritage city center. In our studies before the trip, I learned how very interconnected the engineering profession is with societal development. Our site visits in the Czech Republic truly illustrated this. For example, in Skoda’s history, engineers developed cars to help people travel safer and quicker. At CEZ, people’s push toward sustainability influences the company’s energy production projects and goals. The Central Bohemian Innovation Center supports local scientists and engineers who want to bring innovative, new solutions to the public.

Some advice for others in Prague: do visit! It’s a beautiful city, packed with history, and well-connected with other major cities in Central Europe. While walking around, read the street names and explore the alleys. Also look all around, at details in the buildings and sidewalks.Impacts of history and engineering are everywhere, here and at home, and this trip made me more attuned to them. I’m grateful to have spent these weeks in Prague with Pitt SSOE!
