Thingvellir National Park

March 8 2026 of our Iceland trip was packed with some of the most unique places and experiences so far. We started the day by visiting Þingvellir, one of Iceland’s most famous historic and natural landmarks. It was amazing to walk through such a beautiful area and know how important it is to Iceland’s history. The landscape there felt unreal, with wide open views, rocky cliffs, and clear water all around us.

One of the best parts of the day was getting to try fresh baked rye bread. It was warm, soft, and had a slightly sweet taste that made it stand out from regular bread. It felt even more special knowing it is connected to Iceland’s geothermal culture. We also stopped for ice cream, which was a fun treat and a great contrast to the cool Iceland air.

Later in the day, we went to a volcanic crater in South Iceland. Seeing it in person was incredible. The crater was huge, and the colors of the rock and surrounding land made it look almost like another planet. It was one of those places that really reminds you how powerful and unique Iceland’s geology is.
