After having the privilege of being the 175,107th honorary viking sworn in by Viðar, day 2 had plenty to deliver to meet expectations. It is certainly fair to say that it did, though.
We began our day at Thingvellir National Park, where despite the wintry weather, we had a lot of beautiful landmarks to set our eyes on and capture with our cameras. I also finally brought out the film camera for the day, so I’m hoping I took some feastful flicks that I can lay my eyes on after the trip.
After a quick lunch washed down by a “Safari Fruits” Capri Sun, we headed to a bakery that baked their bread in the geothermal soil by a lake. The bread was delightful, but the smoked salmon that paired with it was the highlight for me. We then stopped to get some fresh made ice cream at a spot not too far, where I snacked on some delectable mint chocolate chip.

We ended the day off by visiting Kerid Crater, as the weather cleared up and we decided to fit it into our schedule. The views here were the best I have seen yet on the trip, and my film camera was being put to work. We were even able to make it down all the way to the bottom for some even nicer views.

Day 2 was a success, and I am now on my way to try my first Icelandic hot dog!
