Today we learned that Iceland experiences many unique natural challenges, such as glacial flooding on the southern coast, earthquakes, and volcanic activity. Something I found really interesting is the presence of small islands appearing off the south coast, which eventually over time may become an additional peninsula to Iceland. On the ride to our waterfall destinations, I also noticed how receded the ocean is from the land in Iceland. The waterfalls we were at today actually used to be on the coastline, but change overtime has left behind incredible cliffs and seabirds

In addition to learning more about Iceland’s shifting landscape, we also got to travel along the south coast to see some stunning waterfall views. We even had a rainbow appearance. The top of the waterfall was great spot to crack open a juice box! I can’t wait to see more tomorrow.
