Day 6 of the Iceland 2026 spring break trip we departed Hotel Adventure in the south of Iceland on our way back to Reykjavik.
Along the way we stopped in Vik for some food, and stopped later on to see some beautiful sea cliffs. We then departed for the ON power plant outside Reykjavik
When we arrived at ON we learned about how this geothermal power plant actually operates. They utilize hot water deep below the surface and pump it up to the surface where the steam is separated and run through a turbine to generate electricity from there it is condensed and let off as steam. Finally the waste water is pumped back down another bore hole.
