Day 6 started with a visit to the southern most tip of Iceland. We arrived to black beaches, gigantic waves, and ocean that seemed to go on forever. Behind this beautiful scenery were sneaker waves that would seem to grow in size as they got closer to the shore and drag you out the way they came. Even from the cliffs we could hear the force caused by these waves. When we turned around we could really get an idea of how scenic Iceland was. To our front were black sand beaches and behind us were snowy mountains and a volcano that could erupt at any time. After our trip to the southern tip of Iceland, we headed to a geothermal power plant. While there they let us tour their facility and take a look at where they took out the hot water to produce energy and hot water. After our tour of the geothermal power plant, we went to our new hotel in Reykjavik. We all went to unpack our bags and head out for dinner which we had scheduled a couple night before. I got some tiger shrimp that I couldn’t get enough of. After dinner, we celebrated a couple of our classmates birthdays with marshmallow covered chocolate and candies. Then we all headed back to our hotel to finish off the day.
