After yet another eventful and exciting day, we started off day 6 with picking up some breakfast and checking out of our stay at our hotel in Kirkjubæjarklaustur.
We took a stop by Dyrhólaey, which is the southern most point of Iceland (most of the time)! The views were absolutely breathtaking. The waves were gorgeous and powerful as well. I had a moment where I was just taking it all in for a good while. The waves were crashing, the view was perfect, and I just sat back and realized how special life is.
We then finally made it to Reykjavík and got to explore some of the town! Walking through the city felt lively and colorful, and it was exciting to finally see Iceland’s capital after spending so much time driving through nature and small towns. We saw a lot of things like the Rainbow Road, statues, murals, and more. The street art and colorful buildings gave the city a lot of character, and it was fun just wandering around and taking it all in. There were plenty of shops, cafés, and interesting corners to explore, which made the city feel both vibrant and welcoming.

Afterward, we had dinner at a gastropub, where we tried some horse tartare. It was surprisingly very good! It was definitely one of the more unique foods we’ve tried on the trip, and it felt fitting to try something traditional and a little adventurous while we were here.
We only have one more full day left in Iceland, but it should be an exciting one! It’s hard to believe the trip is almost over, so we’re hoping to make the most of our final full day and take in as much as we can before heading home.
