Day five of my trip to Iceland started with a simple breakfast, before heading out on a 90 minutes bus ride to the diamond beach and Jökulsárlón. The views there were gorgeous, and the weather was quite nice to us during the visit. I did not get to see any seals unfortunately, but it is what it is.

After eating lunch when leaving Jökulsárlón, we headed out to the Vatnajökuls national park, in specific Skaftafellsstofa, to take a hike to see some falls. The hike was a bit rough, particularly near the end with how icy it was, but we got to see a beautful waterfall enshrined in Basalt at the end. The way back was a pain on the knees, but the views were gorgeous.

After the hike, we made a few stops on our way back to the hotel, seeing a broken bridge, and visiting a section of exposed basalt columns. Once at the hotel, we had dinner, a great lamb shank with mashed potatoes, and a skyr cheesecake for desert.

Normally that would be the end of the day, but where we were staying was the place we were most likely to see the northern lights. So after staying up late, the lights came from over the mountain, the perfect view to end day 4.
