The main goal of today was to get us back to Reykjavik from the south coast. After a simple breakfast we headed out on our 3 hour ride back to Reykjavik. 45 minutes in, we made a quick stop at Vik to grab some essentials, before then moving on. 15 minutes after, we made a stop at a cliff overlooking the ocean. It was a very beautiful sight, and it was quite calming while I was there.

After the stop at the cliffs, we continued onward to Reykjavik. On the before we made it into the city, we made a stop at the Hellisheiði geothermal power plant. There, we had a short lecture on how exactly the geothermal energy was harnessed and utilized, which was quite enlightening. It did hurt a small piece of my engineering heart to hear about the rather poor efficency of the whole system, but there is not much we can do about that quite yet. After the talk, we got to see a reinjection borehole, before heading off to the city

Once we got to the city and checked into the hotel, we took a walk through Reykjavik on our way to dinner. It was a nice time, learning a bit about what made the city special, suck as the monument to the unknown bureaucrat, which was put up by one of the mayors. Fitting that it has a block for a head. After the walk we had dinner, which was a nice sampling plater of Icelandic specialties, and then some nice fish tacos to end it off.
