Our final day in Iceland (which it really didn’t feel like – the last couple days went by so quickly) began with a visit to Reykjavík University, the largest private university in Iceland. It’s a rather interesting place, with a main center hub and several wings named after the planets branching out from it. After a presentation on geothermal energy and what it was like studying in Iceland, we were given a quick tour of some of their labs, such as the civil engineering, motion science and postural control, and machining labs. The tour rounded up with a few presentations from grad students on their geothermal-based graduate projects, as well as a PhD student’s project.

From there, we were dropped back off to Reykjavík’s main shopping street, where I got to do a bit more exploring. I mostly just wandered around at that point, poking my head into anything that seemed intriguing, such as the Harpa Concert Hall or Hallgrímskirkja, a church high up enough on a hill that it’s easily seen from most points in the city. After munching a very delicious croissant, browsing through some bookstores, finding out that TGI Fridays does still exist, and getting dinner with the rest of the crew, the last day in Iceland officially came to a close, ending what I’ll always remember as an amazing trip.
