Thanks to the University of Pittsburgh and the Swanson School of Engineering, I have the opportunity to take my first trip to Europe and join my fellow classmates on a study-abroad experience to Prague. Having grown up so close to New York City, I have been very fortunate to observe and explore one of the United States’ leading metropolitan areas, and over the course of the next two weeks, I am incredibly excited to do the same in Europe. During my time in Prague, I hope to continue to enhance my global perspective and to learn about the roots of the religion and culture that so many of my friends and family members share. In addition to deepening my global societal understanding, I also look forward to learning from industry-leading companies both within the discipline of computer engineering and outside of it. From Nano Technologies, I hope to learn as much as I can about their solution and insights into tomorrow’s power grids with their Virtual Power Plant (VPP). From Škoda, I excitedly await witnessing the peak of the famous European design and engineering that I have heard and learned so much about. This trip is an incredible opportunity to develop myself professionally, academically, and culturally in a metropolitan environment with a centuries-old, rich history and I plan to take full advantage. At the end of this journey, I will have experienced my first trips to South Korea and Prague with Pitt – I could not be more grateful for these programs and for all that they will do to make me a better coworker, student, friend, and person.
