I am really looking forward to learning more about the engineering techniques in Florence that enabled such remarkable buildings and architecture. From the intricate stonework to the amazing longevity of buildings hundreds of years old, I want to learn more about the creativity, materials, and solutions that enable these designs to last so long. Learning about how in the past engineers balanced the aesthetic design with the structural integrity will help me appreciate the civil engineering more and inspire me in my career. I also hope to learn what has gone wrong in history when it comes to their engineering and sustainability techniques, so that I better understand how to be an effective engineer. This study abroad experience will also resonate with my love of travel, since I’ve found that immersing myself in new cultures broadens my perspectives and feeds my ever-growing curiosity. I am also looking forward to working on and improving my artistic skills by being more open to observing details and evolving my creativity to merge with the technical knowledge I have gained since arriving to Pitt, Cant wait to arrive and see what Florence has in store for me!
