My name is Ava, and I am a sophomore mechanical engineering major at the University of Pittsburgh. As I think about and prepare to travel to Florence, Italy, there are many goals I have set for myself to accomplish during and after the trip. Because I do not have any travel experience in Europe, my biggest goal is to embrace the culture and learn the basics of the language of Italian. For academics I hope to apply some unfamiliar skills to the Renaissance and Art History course. I have yet to take any history courses at Pitt, and I am eager to take my first in another country. I know I will be able to take all of the information I learn back to the University of Pittsburgh with me and employ the information in my life here. Professionally, my goal is to make new connections with the other students studying abroad and our professors teaching the courses. Overall, my goal is to take advantage of studying abroad in Florence, Italy as an opportunity to make lifelong connections, learn new coursework, and of course, take tons of photos.
