One thing I learned before arriving in Brazil was the important role that the Itaipu Dam plays in Brazil’s energy system. As one of the largest hydroelectric power plants in the world it supply’s a large amount of power to Brazil and Paraguay. Learning About its scale and impact gave me a better understanding of how large scale power generation supports entire regions.
