During the wastewater treatment tour, I observed that the Czech approach to wastewater management is highly proactive and positive. There is a clear emphasis on protecting public health through careful removal of large solids and the use of both biological and chemical processes to eliminate microbes and bacteria. Sludge collection and handling are managed efficiently that helps keep a safe, clean environment in the city. They have a good handle of waste with tools technology that is not modern. I thought that the fact that they used bricks all over the museum and in the tunnels to be more resistant to chemicals was a very interesting and conscious decision. The sewer systems and old engines also had fascinating features like oil that powered the steam and also helped filter out objects like branches. These systems played a big role of making sure people were no longer sick from bacteria preventing untreated sewage to go into the rivers.
