The few days I have had so far in Florence, I have noticed many different things in my neighborhood. The first thing I noticed was how narrow the streets and sidewalks are. This makes sense as Florence has a Renaissance-style urban design and during this time, roads were not designed for cars. Going along with the traffic of vehicles, there is really not a lot of traffic from cars. I have noticed more bikes and scooters. This could do with the fact that there are not many places to park in the city due to these narrow roads. The structure of the buildings is also all very similar. Buildings here are right on the sidewalk with no driveway, front yard or greenery. The buildings also are made with similar materials like stone, brick, and terracotta. All of the things I have noticed in my neighborhood have help me connect the ideas of the Renaissance-urban design that the city of Florence has.
