In terms of the values of the Renaissance, we discussed today that how their values were mainly surrounded around the expression of harmony, balance, and proportion. The values of the Renaissance are seen through all of the architecture, focusing on making a tradition based off of individualism and humanism. This is seen within much of their city infrastructure and layouts, mainly through their architecture and small, intricate details that tell a story of their history and the people who funded it as well, the Medicis.

In terms of today’s value system, I feel that we value efficiency over individualism. This can be seen in the neighborhoods we build and the rise of the McMansion as well. The USA has been very focused on innovation and with that, we lose much of the traditions and mindset that we had thought of in the Renaissance. This thought of always needing to innovate leaves the US in a state of constant change and rebuilding for the “better” compared to the creativity of the Renaissance.
