Today morning, we had the unique experience of having a tour of an old, but advanced sewage treatment plant. Through the tour, we learned how important the plant has been for the city. Before it was built, the streets were very unhygienic and people relied on the rain to carry away all the filth. With the opening of the treatment plant, things changed for the better and conditions improved. The plant and sewer systems were so well built that they still stand today and could still operate. However, the plant has been replaced by an even more advanced one. This just goes to show that Czech people value their water infrastructure a lot. They spent a lot of time, resources, and ingenuity into building infrastructure for the betterment of their people and improving everyone’s quality of life. The old sewage treatment plant is a statement to Prague’s proud accomplishments in the field of engineering that has stood the test of time.
