Today we were introduced to a new art style that was pertinent to the Renaissance which was panel painting. At first, we started off with mixing the tempura which allowed the artist to actually paint on the canvas and stick onto it. One of the largest takeaways was the time perspective, it took us about 3 hours to fully complete one of these small canvasses. This gives me just a bit of a glimpse into what the artists were going through in terms of getting materials, making them, and then painting it on such big canvasses.

One other takeaway is the importance of gold in this time to signify importance. In our art class, we learned that in certain books and manuscripts with pictures, some would be lined with gold to represent importance in comparison to all of the other photos. With this it was intentional to signify class; however, now since there are ways to have faux gold, we use this instead to be more so of a decoration.

At the end of the 3 hour session, my canvas did not come out the greatest, so here is my before photo.
