The Czech industrial system differs from what I’ve experienced in the way that they take care and time with what they’re building, while still being efficient, whereas in the United States and what I’ve experienced it seems like a lot of times people consider what is cheapest or fastest when making decisions like what material or style of building to use. For example, that wasn’t a factor when deciding between concrete or brick. The interior of the wastewater treatment plant also had intricate designs using the bricks on the interior like mostly curved ceilings and doorways. They were inspired by the architecture and building styles in Vienna and used this inspiration in the design to try and build the system in the best way, without focusing only what’s cheapest and fastest. While I know this system is from a long time ago when automation was limited, I was surprised by how much human labor was necessary with jobs that many people wouldn’t typically want to do, like needing people to take the boats through the sewers to move sludge or solid things caught.
