Today was one of my favorite days thus far, as we got to embark on a walking tour of Prague and finished the night with a cooking class. As I have previously mentioned, I am a huge foodie and I love to cook, so the cooking class was extremely beneficial in the sense that I got to embrace Czech cuisine and embrace the culture through the classic food and traditions. I will admit that I love to cook (and am also pretty good at it), so I would not say that what I learned had much to do with the cooking skills, but rather the food itself and what it means to people. During the class, Jana shared how she cooks this for her family and since she has mastered the skill (with rolling the dumplings), she shared how she feels like she has conquered being a Czech citizen. Food is not just meant to satisfy hunger, it is meant to bring people together and evoke feelings and memories. Being able to be a part of something like this class will forever be impactful as I am able to be more culturally aware in our diverse world. And, I got to take the apron home for forever memories!
