We had a slow start to the morning, starting with an enjoyable and spontaneous trip to the top of the clock tower. The views were amazing and provided an overview of what we would later see on the walking tour of Prague.

Then, we met up with the rest of the group to embark on our walking tour of Prague. We got to see so many of the “go-to” places in Prague. My favorite was the Astronomical Clock Tower, especially considering we had just gotten to walk up it. This tour consumed most of our day, but it was very enjoyable, informative, and my favorite part of the trip so far.

From there, we went to our cooking class. We made a traditional Czech meal including Kulajda (a soup), Svickov na smetaně (the main course), and crumpets (a dessert). I really enjoyed this and it opened my eyes to how the Czechs cook and prepare their meals. First, I thought it was very interesting how simple the ingredients were — they were all items that we could purchase at a grocery store in the United States, the main difference was how we choose to prepare them. Additionally, the process of preparing the meal was intricate and time consuming, whereas many of the meals we prepare in the United States are quick and easy to make. I think this aligns with the lifestyle and cultural differences between the United States and the Czech Republic.
