Today we visited Terezin. Terezin is a fortress built in the 1700s originally built for protection. It was later used for much more than this. We learned about how much hate and violence was brought through this land including times from WWI, WWII, and even communist ruling. This land held not only Jewish people but also political prisoners as well. They were held in small confinements and made to work long hours with little to no food, water, and hygiene accommodations. Until now, we have mainly only seen the bright side of Pragues history and this was our first look at a much darker side. These people were treated extremely poorly for unjust reasons such as nationality/religion and or political beliefs. This truly was a once in a lifetime experience and something I will remember forever.
