Today we started by taking an hour bus ride to a town called Kutna Hora. Kutna Hora is known for its rich history in mining as it was rich in natural resources. We started at the Ossuary/Bone Church. We got to observe ancient pieces made completely of human bones. Some of these pieces were quite large and intricate such as the pyramids. These pyramids were and incredible engineering feat back when they were originally built and still today. Thinking about the structural integrity of these structures amazed me alone. Then we visited Saint Barbara’s Cathedral. This cathedral was quite breathtaking with its structure and beautiful gothic style of architecture. It is quite amazing think they built this without the use of modern technology we have access to today. Finally we visited an old mine shaft. This was very eye opening as the shafts were very small and workers worked in these for 8+ hours a day with little to no light. In addition the stability of these mines are incredible as they are still safe to visit today.
