Today we visited Terezin, an hour away from Prague. This was one of the towns the Nazis used as a concentration camp and a “model” ghetto. This visit was important to understand why Liberation Day is so significant for Czech history.
It was a strange walking through knowing all that had been lived there before. Whenever you walk in, it’s a nice small city. You can feel the breeze and the birds chirping. It had a serene feel. If felt weird being in the middle of everything feeling calm and peaceful knowing the all suffering that was felt just a few decades ago.

This poem written by Františec Bass captured the tragedy of his peers and his fate in simple words. It talks about the beauties around him yet whenever it grows he won’t be here to enjoy it. This represents how the children felt, like they had a small timeline before they left this world. Very sad and tragic. Reflecting on the ambient, you could say that they have found their peace.
