Today, we had a great day at Škoda! We began our tour by visiting the production plant and the assembly line. We learned that on average, the different teams have only a minute to perform their tasks in the car, such as installing the entire dashboard. As a result, not everyone can do this job, and potential employees are have to complete a three day training to determine if they’re a good fit. We also learned that each car takes fours hours to go from start to finish and three cars are roll off the line every minute. This is an incredible pace! This entire operation is huge! Even if one thing somewhere gets delayed, such as a shipment of parts arrives late or a machine breaks down, the entire production is affected. As a result, there are many contingencies implemented into the process to reduce as much loss as possible. Next, at the Škoda Museum we learned about the history of the company and the many different cars they produced along the way. Overall, visiting Škoda today has made me feel even more excited for a future career in the automotive field. I can’t wait to be a part of this important and incredible industry!
