Today we visited The LEGO Group and learned more about their manufacturing process and global operations. One thing I found really interesting was how, because LEGO is such a worldwide company, they often follow the regulations of the strictest country they operate in so their products can remain consistent everywhere. It showed how global engineering is not just about designing products, but also about understanding safety standards, regulations, and large-scale manufacturing systems.
The visit also reflected a lot of the ideas behind especially through automation, precision manufacturing, and the way technology is integrated into production. One engineering skill I saw in action today that I would like to develop further is process optimization. It was interesting seeing how even small improvements in efficiency can make a huge difference at such a large scale.
Later, we visited the Brownfields area and learned about how abandoned industrial buildings are being repurposed into modern spaces while still preserving their history. I thought that was really meaningful because it showed how engineering and design can give old structures a new purpose instead of simply tearing them down. It made me think more about sustainability and how preserving history can still fit into modern development.
