The moment today where I was able to feel like a true Czech citizen was when I first went to order my dorts at the bakery in the village before we climbed Mt. Everest to see Karlstejn Castle. I was able to communicate with the worker despite her not speaking English and me only knowing very few Czech words. We even shared a laugh, and I am sure that she was just laughing at me, but I took that with pride. Then, when I told Jana what I tried, she told me that I have truly embraced the food of Czech cuisine, and that means so much to me coming from a local. I am so grateful for this experience, and am sad to see it come to an end. However, I feel as though I have learned so much about both engineering and being in a foreign country.
